The couple bought the house in 2019, but it had been on Dean’s manifestation list for a long time. For eight years, he had a photo of his house as his phone’s screen saver. It came and went on the market, but the music producer remained optimistic. He told the newspaper, “I was low-key manifesting it.” Dean decided he wanted to move Alicia and their children Egypt and Genesis there when the couple’s real estate agent, Stephen Sweeney, called to let them know the house was available again. “It’s unbelieveably crazy when your screen saver comes to life,” Dean added.

Dean was concerned that Keys might leave New York for the West Coast, but after spending a weekend at the house and meditating one morning, Keys fell in love with it. “In that moment, I felt like I was seeing a magnificent metaphor, and I didn’t want to ever forget how boundless we are and how the unbelievable may happen,” the singer said of parasailers soaring over a neighboring mountain. That was the final straw for me.
